As a designer, art-directing and developing a brand from scratch is a dream project. When my longtime friend, client, and talented skateboarder Zack Whyle approached me in 2019 with a freelance opportunity, I knew this was more than just another gig. It was a chance to build something meaningful—something that truly reflected his vision. That’s how Creo was born.

It all started with a brainstorming session, where Zack and I talked through his goals, aesthetics, and the message he wanted Creo to communicate. We explored themes of creativity, individuality, and the DIY spirit of skateboarding culture. Next came research and inspiration gathering. I dove deep into visual references—skate brands, streetwear labels, and bold graphic styles that resonated with the vision we had for Creo. Mood boards helped refine the direction, allowing us to filter through styles, colors, and typography that spoke to the brand's ethos.

To bring the brand to life visually, we planned a photo shoot that would set the tone for Creo’s launch. The focus was on real skateboarders, raw urban environments, and an energetic, unfiltered aesthetic that matched the brand’s roots. From scouting locations to defining a shot list, every detail was intentional. Seeing Creo come to life from a simple idea to a fully realized brand was an incredibly rewarding experience. It wasn’t just about design—it was about storytelling, strategy, and bringing a vision to reality.
